In Valerie’s initial email to me two things stood out immediately: 1) she wanted to schedule a family photo session and 2) her family consists of her, her husand Jarred, and their dog Wilson. And that sent my heart aflutter because if you’ve followed me for any amount of time you know I firmly believe THAT’S THE BEST KIND OF FAMILY.
This particular family loves to hike, so during the planning stage we had visions of epic mountain views and crystal clear lakes. But then we remembered it was late November in Washington and we might just have to settle for some good old-fashioned Pacific Northwest rain.
We met at Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, and can you believe it did, in fact, rain that day? I would even be so bold as to say it POURED, but wet hair and soggy clothes didn’t stop us from having fun…duh.
I like to mix up my couples sessions with some classic portraiture alongside natural movement and candid moments, so I used treats to convince Wilson to look at my camera, and when he ran off to do Very Important Dog Things I focused on Jarred and Valerie being married and in love and adorable while also getting soaked. It was cold, wet, and even windy, but when I say asia dore couples don’t mind getting their boots muddy? This is what I mean. Scroll down to see the rest of their photos!
