When I met Adam & Bradee on the day of their engagement session it was clear almost immediately that 1) they thrive on getting the most out of life, 2) they’re not afraid to dream big, and 3) they prefer to do both as a team. 2017 has been a big year for these two – they were already in the process of planning a wedding when they decided to put an offer on a house AND found out they were expecting a baby boy. No big deal though; more than anything they’re excited to jump into their new life together!
Their ceremony took place at Blind River Rapids in Petersburg, Alaska – the water rushed by behind them and fishermen’s lines buzzed as they said their vows under overcast skies. They’re big fans of the Southeast Alaska wilderness and spend a lot of time hiking, camping, and beach combing, so they wanted to bring outdoor elements into both the ambiance and the décor.
After they said goodbye to their reception guests we headed straight to the airport so a float plane could take us to a lake cabin where we’d shoot a few more photos and Adam & Bradee would celebrate with a camping mini-moon. We loaded the plane, buckled up, and just as the engine started: it didn’t. A mechanical issue delayed their post-wedding trip, but I was amazed at how mellow they were about it. At the end of the day, all that really mattered was that they were husband and wife, and I think we can all agree that’s the best way to begin a marriage.
Thanks for trusting me to photograph your day, Mr. & Mrs. Axmaker! I can’t wait to see what adventures you dream up next.
